Here are 5 key strategies to keep in mind:

Graduation Printing Checklist: Invitations, Thank You’s, Banners, & More

Your guide to a stress-free graduation season!

1) Consider the right kind of projects

Every student and every family is different! Depending on the type of celebration you would like to have for the student in your life, there are an array of different options available. Are you having a large party, or a small family gathering after the ceremony? Are you hoping to send graduation photos to your extended family, or just to a few select close relatives and friends?

Here are some options you can consider:

Invitations - Of course! These are the most traditional (and straightforward) way to celebrate your child’s graduation, by inviting loved ones to the ceremony itself. You might be thinking - doesn’t my child’s high school already create graduation ceremony invitations? Why would I want to order my own? While many high schools offer school-specific invitations or thank you cards for the special occasion, they do not offer the custom touches that a local print shop like Quality Quick Print can. We can help you design your invite from the ground up, making it something that really reflects your young student’s personality and aesthetic. Or, you could always sneak in some embarrassing baby photos to celebrate just how far your child has come! Quality Quick Print offers full customization and hands-on assistance when it comes to your printing projects. We can help you be as creative or as traditional as you’d like to be - while also working within your ideal price point. Working with a local print shop also helps support the community and local businesses - a win for everyone!

Thank You’s - Many students will receive cards and gifts to celebrate this exciting transition period into the next chapter of their lives. But what young person actually remembers to send out thank you notes? Having thank you cards pre-printed will save stress, time, and hassle for your family. Plus, Quality Quick Print can help take some of the pain out of sending them out in the mail! But more on that later ;).

Banners - Planning a big, outdoor barbecue bash to celebrate their graduation? Why not print a banner so guests can easily find your grilling spot! Banners and lawn signs are a great way to showcase photos, capture attention, and create a unique and memorable experience for your graduate for their celebration day. Plus, you could always use your banner as a backdrop for a party-theme-centric photo booth! Who doesn’t want to take fun and quirky pictures at a party!?

And MORE - Are you hoping to commemorate your loved one’s day in a more nontraditional way? We’ve got you! At Quality Quick Print, we’re happy to whip up custom mugs, T-shirts, calendars, and more to help you celebrate. Maybe you’d like to create a special album or collage for your child to take along with them to college. Or maybe you’d like the family to wear matching T-shirts to the graduation ceremony! You know, not to embarrass your child for one last time before they leave the nest, or anything…

2) Keep design in mind when you DIY

Are you planning on designing your own invitations or thank you notes? Don’t forget to consider these design elements: fonts and white space.

So, let's talk fonts! When it comes to fonts, we know it can be so tempting to change it up... they all look interesting! In fact, There are over 100,000 commercially licensed fonts available worldwide. But you need to choose, and choose wisely. Generally, use no more than three fonts in a project. An industry best practice is to use a serif font for the main headline and a sans serif for secondary information.

Use all caps or boldface fonts for text that need readers' attention first. But be judicious with this or you'll JUST SOUND SHOUTY.  (Plus, you’ll confuse your audience!) You can occasionally use italicized fonts for placing emphasis on specific words or phrases. Again, there is such a thing as too many fonts! As soon as a fourth font is added, the eye becomes distracted from the message you are trying to convey.

White space is a distinctive and valuable tool that can bring out something special from your design.  A smartly-used white space provides several beneficial effects: It helps put more focus on a particular part of your composition, it lets the design breathe,  and it stabilizes the design's components.  It adds an effortless level of sophistication to the design.  Without adding a new element, white space can convey multiple meanings in your design. Good use of white space can keep your materials clean, easy to read, and polished - perfect to keep in mind if you are designing your own materials!

3) Set your printing budget - and don’t forget the benefits of bulk!

When customers are looking to keep costs low, we often encourage them to consider bulk ordering. Seems counter-intuitive, doesn’t it? However, sometimes ordering 200 of an item is cheaper than ordering ten of the same item! Why is that? Typically, it's because of the labor involved. Let’s take widgets, for example: printing widgets involves designing them, setting them up for a print run, printing and cutting. The amount of time involved remains the same for each step, except for the printing itself.

To illustrate this simply, let's say the print cost is $40.00 for a box of 200 widgets. Built into the total cost is: $10 designing, $10 setting up for a run, $10 for printing and $10 for cutting. If you only need 10, the design, set-up and cutting all remain constant. The only thing that changes is the printing cost of 50¢. This drives your per-piece price from 20¢ each to $3.05 each.

So, the next time you put in an order for a project, be sure to think about how many you need! We suggest you consider ordering a quantity larger that you think you'll need, because it may save you in the long run!

4) Get your orders in on time

One of the most overlooked (and crucial!) elements to making sure any type of personalized project you want to create is completed successfully is - of course - timing. To make sure our team has enough time to review, proof, and print your pieces, we suggest placing orders with no less than 3- 5 days of turnaround time.

However, we understand that life happens! And we know that some gifts or banners may be last-minute surprises. We're happy to process these for you but ask that you keep in mind projects are completed in the order they are received. So get your order in as soon as you can!

5) Let us help with your post graduation follow-ups

After the diploma is in hand and the confetti is now (inevitably) all over your living room floor, it can be tempting to think you’re finished. Only to get that dreaded phone call from aunt Shirley that she’s been wondering where her Class of ‘23 photo of your child is - she’s already made space for it on her fridge and is waiting for it in the mail!

We know that a lot of family members still prefer to have printed photos and keepsakes when it comes to special occasions, such as graduations. But we also know that printing, addressing, and sending out all of those photos and thank you cards can be a huge, post-graduation headache.

At Quality Quick Print, we’re happy to address your envelopes, saving you time and energy, so you can get back to enjoying quality summer time with your child before they jet off to college. We’re glad to take this one off your list of to-do’s - and get aunt Shirley off your back!
